This policy offers compensation to the insured in case of bodily injury or death directly and solely as a result of an accident by external, visible, and violent means. It does not cover death or injury due to any illness or disease.
The policy operates worldwide and is 24-hour coverage.
- Different coverage is available, ranging from restricted cover of death only to comprehensive cover, covering death, permanent disablements, and temporary total disablements.
- Family package cover is available to individuals under the personal accident policy, whereby the proposer, spouse, and dependent children can be covered under a single policy.
- Group personal accident policies are also available for specified groups.
Note: Percentage sums payable are determined on an individual basis according to the specific needs and requirements of the life assured.
The following types of coverage are offered under a personal accident policy:
Benefits
Death
- Accidental bodily injury which shall, within six calendar months from the occurrence thereof, solely and directly cause the death of the life assured.
Loss of limbs or eyes
- Accidental bodily injury which shall, within six calendar months from the occurrence thereof, cause or necessarily result in the loss by physical separation at or above the wrist or ankle of one or more limbs or the complete and irrevocable loss of all sight in one or both eyes.
Temporary total disablement
- Accidental bodily injury which, while not resulting in loss of limbs or sight, solely and directly totally disables and prevents the life assured from attending to his business or occupation or to business of any kind, upon proof satisfactory to the insurance company that such disablement has continued for two years from the date of the accident and will, in all probability, continue for the remainder of the life assured’s life.
- Accidental bodily injury which shall solely and directly totally disable and prevent the life assured from attending to his business or occupation will receive compensation during such disablement for a period which, together with any period during which temporary total disablement benefit is paid, does not exceed 104 successive weeks.
Temporary partial disablement
- Accidental bodily injury which shall solely and directly partially disable and prevent the life assured from attending to a substantial part of his business or occupation will receive compensation during such partial disablement for a period which, together with any period during which temporary total disablement benefit is paid, does not exceed 104 successive weeks.
Medical expenses
- Medical expenses necessarily incurred in connection with accidental bodily injury sustained by a life assured and caused by violent, external, and visible means, but not exceeding, for any one life assured, the sum stated in the schedule.
Who can take the policy?
- Any adult residing in Uganda can take the policy covering himself/herself and dependent family members between the ages of 5 and 70 years.

How to Claim
In the event of an accident giving rise to a claim under the policy, the following steps should be followed:
In case of death claim:
- Assignee under the policy should immediately notify the insurance company by phone, email, fax or in writing.
- Submit a Claim Form duly filled in along with death certificate, post mortem report and police report to the insurance company.
In case of injury claim:
- Immediately notify the insurance company by phone, email, fax or in writing.
- Submit a Police report (if any) to the insurance company.
- Submit a Claim Form duly filled in along with medical certificate certifying the disablement to the insurance company.
- In case medical expenses extension has been taken, then the prescription along with bills must also be submitted to the insurance company.
